The Best Cafés and Restaurants in Lisbon
Simply put, Lisbon is a coffee lover’s and foodie’s heaven.
You can spend hours wandering around the colorful, cobblestone city streets, finding unique cafés and places to eat all day long.
I love getting recommendations for new cafés and restaurants to try out when I’m traveling, so I am going to share what are in my opinion the Best Cafés and Restaurants in Lisbon.
I am sure there are so many more, so don’t hesitate to share your recommendations in the comments!
Time Out Market
Location: Av. 24 de Julho 49, 1200-479
Open from 10am to 12am all week long!
Time-Out Market brings together the best of Lisbon’s gastronomical culture under one roof. It is located at Mercado da Ribeira at Cais do Sodré. Upon entering the market you will be overwhelmed (in the best way possible) by dozens of food stalls and tiny restaurants offering everything from seafood to craft beer to donuts. What is special about this place is that every item has been tested and reviewed by a panel of food critics, meaning that in Time Out Market you can find the highest quality and best rated examples of Lisbon’s gastronomy.
At Academia Time-Out you can take cooking classes. They offer classes and cooking experiences with options for all levels, including kids.
My favorite stalls at Time-Out? Be sure to check out Café Sao Bento and Crush Donuts!
Dallas Burger Joint
Location: Tv. Remolares 41, 1200-019
Open from 12pm to 11pm all week long!
Without a doubt, this cozy restaurant offers the best hamburgers in Lisbon. What better place to earn back all those calories you burned while walking for hours around the hilly streets of the city. They offer beer, milkshakes, homemade fries, grass-fed beef burgers, and vegetarian options!
Honest Greens
Location: Edifício Amoreiras Plaza loja 11/12 Rua Maria Ulrich 1,1070-169
Open from 9:30am to 12am all week long!
If you have a day packed full of sightseeing and are looking for a quick, easy, and healthy meal I highly recommend checking out Honest Greens! The food was delicious and fresh, and while you can sit down and enjoy at the restaurant they also offer the option of takeaway. The restaurant itself has a great environment with lots of plants, and would be perfect if you are looking for a place to settle down for a while and get some work done. Remote workers know that places like these can be hard to find!
Fauna & Flora
Location: Rua da Esperança 33, 1200-655 Lisboa, Portugal
Open from 9am to 7pm all week long!
Fauna & Flora is a quaint, cozy café located in central Lisbon and offers incredible breakfast and brunch options. Their pancakes and bagel sandwiches are to die for! I would highly recommend visiting this café while you are in the city.
Lost In Cafe
Location: R. Dom Pedro V Nº56-D, 1250-094 Lisboa, Portugal
Open from 12pm to 12am Thursday through Sunday, and 4pm to 12am Monday through Wednesday.
Lost In Café is located just a few minutes walking from Lisbon’s botanical gardens and natural history museum, making it the perfect place to relax while touring the city. The café offers a menu with Mediterranean-Asian fusion dishes, and everything is fresh and delicious. There is a beautiful terrace which overlooks the endless emblematic red-tiled roofs of the city, and all in all is the perfect place to have lunch or an evening drink.
Lisbon is the perfect example of a European city where you can keep coming back for years and there will always be something new to see and experience. This is just a short list of some of my favorite places to eat from my last trip there, but I would love to hear about your experience! Happy travels <3.
